Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the newly constructed Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Bhawan at Rani Jhansi Marg, Ghaziabad, in the presence of senior officials of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), trade representatives, and dignitaries.

Describing the building as a symbol of modern India’s commitment to good governance, she emphasised the need for next-generation revenue infrastructure to complement next-generation taxation. The Minister urged tax officers to uphold empathy, courtesy, and integrity while simplifying compliance and ensuring transparency.

Sitharaman highlighted the success of GST 2.0, calling it a reflection of India’s progressive economic vision that has generated employment and boosted consumer spending during the festive season.

Built at a cost of Rs 1.16 billion on a 2.21-acre site, the new green complex integrates the CGST Commissionerate, Audit and Appeals Commissionerates, and Pay & Accounts Office under one roof to ensure administrative synergy. It features seven floors, two basements, and parking for nearly 300 vehicles.

Equipped with a GST Sewa Kendra, Taxpayers’ Lounge, digital kiosk, gym, creche, and auditorium, the facility is designed as a citizen-centric, sustainable office. The building has earned a Five-Star GRIHA rating and includes eco-friendly elements such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and waste management systems.

The project, executed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), stands as Ghaziabad’s largest government office complex and underscores the government’s focus on transparent, technology-driven tax administration.
