Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya held its second Court meeting at Rail Bhawan in New Delhi, chaired by Chancellor Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology. Vaishnaw said the university has made strong progress within three years of becoming operational through its industry-driven approach and has emerged as a national role model. He said GSV will continue its focus on railways and aviation while deepening curricula in bridge and tunnel engineering, the maritime sector with an emphasis on shipbuilding, expanding contributions to upskilling the defence forces and railways, and strengthening applied research for integrated transport planning.

The meeting was attended by Shubhangini Raje Gaekwad, Rajmata of Baroda; Railway Board Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar; Vice-Chief of the Army Staff Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh; DPIIT Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia; BISAG Director General T P Singh; IIT Gandhinagar Director Prof Rajat Moona; representatives from the ministries of civil aviation and road transport and highways; industry leaders including L&T and AMD; and senior officials of GSV. Vice-Chancellor Prof Manoj Choudhary presented a detailed progress report, which was widely appreciated, particularly the university’s industry collaborations, executive training programmes for the railways and defence forces, and its role in PM Gati Shakti capacity building for civil services.

Members of the Court offered suggestions to expand collaboration in bridge and tunnel engineering, shipbuilding, railways, defence logistics and supply chains. The Vice-Chief of the Army Staff proposed affiliating sector-specific Indian Army academies with the university and scaling up training programmes. GSV will design and conduct probationary training for Indian Railway Management Service officers from this year and work with industry partners to establish additional chair professorships.

During the meeting, BISAG and GSV announced a memorandum of understanding to further support PM Gati Shakti, while AMD committed financial support for the university’s incubation facility. Work is underway on additional campus infrastructure, with land already acquired and a master plan to be prepared. The annual reports and accounts for the 2024–25 financial year were approved for tabling in Parliament.

Established as a central university by an Act of Parliament in 2022, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya operates under the Ministry of Railways and focuses on the full spectrum of transportation and logistics, including railways, highways, ports, aviation, maritime, shipping, inland waterways, urban transport, and integrated logistics and supply chains.
