GeM Launches Campaign to Boost Transparency and Fair Trade

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has launched a special campaign during Vigilance Awareness Week titled “GeM Ki Sunien, Satark Rahein, Zimmedar Banein,” reinforcing its commitment to transparency, integrity, and ethical practices in public procurement.
The initiative aims to educate and empower buyers to adopt best practices and comply with rules while enabling sellers—including last-mile entrepreneurs, startups, and micro and small enterprises (MSEs) from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities—to access secure and transparent opportunities. GeM’s safeguards, such as red-flag alerts, structured bid conditions, and audit trails, ensure transactions are fair and trustworthy.
As part of the drive, GeM is undertaking vernacular media outreach in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to raise awareness among diverse business communities, ensuring even remote entrepreneurs can confidently participate in public procurement.
Speaking at the launch, GeM CEO Shri Mihir Kumar said, “GeM is more than a platform; it is a national commitment to fairness, inclusion, and trust. Vigilance Awareness Week reminds all stakeholders that transparency and responsibility are shared values.”
GeM has also expanded opportunities through eight dedicated #VocalForLocal outlets and curated market pages for startups, self-help groups, artisans, weavers, and farmer producer organisations. A progressive revenue policy—97 per cent of orders exempt from transaction fees and waived caution money for new sellers—has made participation simpler, inclusive, and affordable for MSEs nationwide.
The campaign’s impact is already evident. In Madhya Pradesh, sellers have received orders worth Rs 3.80 billion, including Rs 2.69 billion by MSEs, Rs 158 million by startups, Rs 320 million by women-led enterprises, and Rs 131 million by SC/ST entrepreneurs. In Chhattisgarh, sellers secured orders worth Rs 8.79 billion, with MSEs contributing Rs 4.86 billion, startups Rs 42 million, women entrepreneurs Rs 124 million, and SC/ST sellers Rs 20 million.
These figures highlight GeM’s growing role as India’s trusted public procurement ecosystem, reinforcing its mission to build an inclusive, transparent, and equitable marketplace that empowers all segments of society.
