The state-of-the-art plant has been constructed to global quality standards and was developed with a strong focus on food safety, high quality and responsible resource use. The expansion forms part of the company strategy to serve both consumers and bakery partners at greater scale.\n\nGeneral Mills invested Rs one billion (bn) to build the plant, which is the company second manufacturing facility in Nashik. The facility incorporates advanced manufacturing technologies intended to improve efficiency, strengthen quality controls and support responsible resource management. The new site is expected to shorten lead times and enhance the availability of Pillsbury products across India, supporting wider distribution and more reliable supply. Improved accessibility is anticipated to enable thousands of bakeries to access consistent products and to support their own growth.\n\nThe project has already generated numerous direct and indirect employment opportunities across manufacturing, logistics and support services, providing a boost to local livelihoods and to skill development in the Nashik region of Maharashtra. Increased demand for raw materials and ancillary services is expected to stimulate growth among local suppliers and businesses and to reinforce regional supply chains. The company anticipates that the plant will contribute to broader economic activity in the surrounding area.\n\nThe inauguration was attended by senior company representatives, officials from the United States consulate in Mumbai and members of the Government of Maharashtra, underscoring the strategic importance of the investment and the collaboration between global companies and Indian manufacturing ecosystems. Company leadership indicated that the expansion aligns with long-term plans to embed the Pillsbury brand within India culinary landscape and to serve bakery partners more effectively.
