The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has been found guilty of violating the
terms of the contract by failing to handover possession of a plot with the promised amenities on
time. As a result, the Punjab State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission gave GMADA the
option of giving possession of the site or giving the money back. In addition, the panel punished the
authority Rs. 40,000 as restitution for mental anguish, harassment, and court costs.
In response to a complaint made by Davinder Singh and Hardeep Kaur, residents of Sector 71 in Mohali, the commission bench, made up of Kiran Sibal and H P S Mahal, rendered its decision. It concerns a plot that the complainants bought from Suryansh Mohan in Gateway City, Sector 118–119, Mohali, and a Letter of Intent (LOI) was sent by GMADA.
