The Goa cabinet on Monday approved seven development projects valued at Rs 25 billion, to be executed on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis in the coastal state. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said after the cabinet meeting that opting for the PPP model will enable faster project completion without drawing on state funds. The projects include the redevelopment of the Junta House and Circuit House buildings in Panaji, construction of a new Prashasan Stambh, reconstruction of government quarters at St Inez, Panaji, rebuilding the government garage, and the construction of the Kadamba Transport Corporation’s bus stand at Vasco in South Goa. The public sector undertaking NBCC (National Buildings Construction Corporation) will undertake these projects under the PPP model, with work expected to commence within the next 10–15 days, the CM said. Sawant added that the state government would have had to spend at least Rs 25 billion to execute these projects independently.
