Gradiant has announced the expansion of its Global Engineering Center (GEC) in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, strengthening its engineering and project execution capabilities in India to support its growing international project portfolio.

The expansion will increase the centre’s engineering workforce from around 100 to more than 200 professionals. The facility will bring together expertise across process engineering, detailed design and project engineering, allowing the India team to take greater responsibility for engineering and design activities across Gradiant’s global projects.

Govind Alagappan, COO, Gradiant, said Coimbatore’s engineering talent and industrial base make it an important location for scaling the company’s global capabilities. The expansion is also expected to create opportunities for engineers to work on international projects involving advanced water and wastewater technologies.

The centre will support projects across sectors including semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy and pharmaceuticals. Growing investments in AI infrastructure, semiconductor manufacturing and data centres are also increasing demand for reliable water treatment, wastewater recycling and reuse solutions.

Hari Prasad, Managing Director of India, Gradiant, said India is becoming increasingly important to the company’s global growth strategy, with the Coimbatore expansion combining domestic engineering talent with Gradiant’s international project pipeline.

Gradiant’s India portfolio includes a 10,000 cu m per day wastewater recycling project for a solar PV manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. The company has also delivered an integrated ultrapure water, wastewater treatment and recycling, and zero liquid discharge facility for a semiconductor manufacturer in Gujarat.

Over the next three years, Gradiant plans to further expand its engineering capabilities in India, with its Chennai and Coimbatore operations forming a strategic global engineering hub supporting international projects.
