Gravita India Limited has increased the lead recycling capacity of its Mundra facility in Gujarat by 80,300 metric tonnes per annum (t), bringing the unit's total capacity to 145,100 metric tonnes per annum (t). The company stated the expansion forms part of its strategy to strengthen recycling capabilities and meet rising domestic and international demand for sustainable lead products. The capacity increase was completed at the Mundra plant, which benefits from strategic proximity to the port and established logistics links.

The company has invested Rs 490 million (mn) in procurement and commissioning for the expansion, funding the project from internal accruals. Management indicated that the enhancement will enable improved operational efficiencies and optimisation of supply chains for both raw material sourcing and export fulfilment. The investment underscores a focus on scaling production to support key export markets and long-term growth.

The expanded facility is expected to support more efficient processing cycles and better serve customers with high-quality recycled lead supplied in a responsible manner consistent with circular economy principles. The Mundra expansion is intended to reduce transit times and logistics costs while maintaining environmental and safety standards across operations. The company noted that greater capacity at a port-proximate site will facilitate responsiveness to international demand. Operational teams will focus on process standardisation and quality control to ensure consistent output and compliance with environmental norms.
