At the second Bharat Green Hydrogen Summit 2026 at FICCI Federation House in New Delhi, Gujarat Minister of Energy and Petrochemicals Rushikesh Patel invited domestic and international industrialists to consider investment in the state. He outlined a comprehensive regulatory environment intended to support manufacturing and processing facilities and urged manufacturers to move operations to Gujarat. The appeal framed the state as open for business for those developing green hydrogen and related value chains.

He listed the industrial policy, a green hydrogen policy and a renewable energy policy as co-ordinated instruments that firms could use to scale projects. Patel indicated that the state intended to provide practical support for project developers and highlighted incentives and procedural clarity as attractions. The narrative presented Gujarat as offering a policy ecosystem in which renewable energy and hydrogen development could advance together.

He also described Gujarat's geography as favourable, citing a long coastline and abundant sunlight that offered operational advantages for the green hydrogen supply chain. Patel noted that coastal infrastructure and land availability could support siting of production and storage facilities. The minister framed these characteristics as practical enablers for industrial scale manufacture and deployment.

He said recent domestic manufacturing progress included an electrolyser made by Larsen and Toubro at Hazira, a four megawatt (MW) unit that he described as an important milestone. Patel indicated that such production capacity within India could reduce supply chain reliance and help bring down costs over time, positioning local manufacturing as a support for scaling projects. He characterised electrolysers as potential game changers for the green hydrogen path and urged companies to explore opportunities in Gujarat while stressing that collaboration among manufacturers, grid operators and policy makers would be necessary to integrate hydrogen with existing renewable systems. The minister invited proposals, said officials would work with investors and that approvals would be fast-tracked in Gujarat.
