In a move to strengthen road safety in Haryana, Director General of Police O. P. Singh has written to both the central and state governments, calling for urgent rectification of identified accident-prone locations across the state. The communication was shared on Wednesday in an official statement.
The DGP addressed his letter to V. Umashankar, Secretary at the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and Anurag Aggarwal, Additional Chief Secretary of the Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Department in the Haryana government.
Singh highlighted that a joint assessment carried out by the Haryana Police and the Transport Department had identified several ‘black spots’—locations where five or more road accidents have occurred within a short period. He urged both authorities to take immediate corrective measures to reduce the risk of further accidents and enhance commuter safety.
