Hassle-free journey from Prayagraj to Varanasi and Mirzapur soon

Travellers bound for Varanasi and Mirzapur via Handia from Andawa will soon find their journey more convenient, as the construction of a four-lane road on Old GT Road from Andawa to Handia is nearing completion. This development is expected to ease the frequent traffic congestion in Sarai Inayat, Hanumanganj, Saidabad, and Handia areas of Prayagraj. According to officials, 95% of the construction work has been finished by the Public Works Department?s construction division-3. The remaining 5% is scheduled to be finished by June 30.

The executive engineer of construction division-3 of PWD, Navin Kumar Verma, confirmed that 95% of the four-lane road construction on Old GT Road has been completed under the expansion project. He mentioned that the final phase, which involves the remaining 5% of the work near Andawa Mod, is currently under continuous monitoring and is expected to be completed by June 30.

Officials stated that the deadline for completing the four-lane construction is June 30. They added that an additional Rs 290 million was released by the state government on June 6 to complete the remaining 5% of the work. This release comes from the total sanctioned budget of Rs 2.94 billion for the four-lane project.

The four-lane expansion project covers a 22.4 kilometre stretch from Andawa Mod to Handia. Demolition and widening work between Sarai Inayat, Hanumanganj, Saidabad, and Handia commenced on December 27, 2021.
