Himachal CM Opens Integrated Command and Control Centre in Dharamshala

Himachal Pradesh has launched a new integrated command, control, and crime response centre named ‘Chakshu Chakra’ in Dharamshala, developed under the Smart City Mission. The centre is located at the Superintendent of Police Office and is aimed at enhancing urban surveillance and public safety.

A total of 229 CCTV cameras have been installed at 89 critical locations throughout the city. Among these, seven locations feature advanced cameras under the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) to aid in traffic regulation and public safety measures.

Developed at a cost of Rs 20.72 million, the facility is designed to function as a central hub for urban monitoring, coordination, and rapid emergency response. It is expected to enhance urban governance, enable real-time oversight, and improve public service efficiency.

Plans are in place to connect all surveillance systems across the Kangra district to this centralised server, allowing for integrated and streamlined monitoring. The project reflects the state's strategy to utilise technology for improved, responsive, and secure urban management. The Chakshu Chakra centre is anticipated to play a key role in transforming Dharamshala into a safer and more modern urban space.
