The Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) approved an annual work plan and budget estimate of Rs 2.51 billion (Rs 2.51 bn) focusing on housing and infrastructure projects, including a provision of Rs 520 million (Rs 520 mn) for land procurement for future housing and urban development. The approval took place during its 59th meeting chaired by Housing and Town and Country Planning Minister Rajesh Dharmani on Monday. The minister directed members to expedite execution of ongoing and proposed development projects while ensuring transparency, efficiency and resident?focussed service delivery.

He reviewed progress of housing and infrastructure projects across the state and underlined the need for timely completion to meet growing demand and preserve project momentum. He said strategic land acquisition would strengthen HIMUDA's capacity to undertake planned development in coming years and create a pipeline for future schemes. The Board approved a one-time settlement policy for the HIMUDA colony at Rakkar phase-IV in Una district to provide relief to eligible allottees and resolve long?standing issues.

It was informed that against budget estimates of Rs 1.17 billion (Rs 1.17 bn) for the financial year 2025–26, HIMUDA achieved a turnover of Rs 2.00 billion (Rs 2.00 bn), a result the Authority said reflected improved financial management and operational efficiency. To strengthen institutional capacity the Board approved amendments to the Contractor Enlistment Rules to align them with practices of the Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department. These measures aim to streamline procurement, improve contractor standards and accelerate project delivery.

The Board also sanctioned steps to give a modern corporate look to the HIMUDA head office at Nigam Vihar, Shimla to improve the working environment and public service delivery. Officials said upgraded infrastructure and clearer processes would support faster decision making and better citizen engagement without compromising accountability. The combined measures are expected to bolster the Authority's readiness to meet future housing needs and deliver urban development more effectively.
