Hindustan Construction-Tata Projects JV Secures Rs 24.7 Bn Deal

Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) and Tata Projects Ltd (TPL), in a 50:50 joint venture, have secured a Rs 24.7 billion contract from Tata Power Company for the development of the Bhivpuri Off-Stream Open Loop Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in Karjat, Maharashtra. The 1000 MW facility comprises two 333 MW units and two 167 MW units.
The contract encompasses civil and hydro-mechanical works, including the construction of a coffer dam, intake structures, head race tunnels, penstocks, surge and pressure shafts, a powerhouse, tail race tunnels, and a new lower reservoir featuring a GFRD dam. Additional works include access roads, drainage systems, and various supporting infrastructure, alongside the review and interface of electro-mechanical components.
HCC, having contributed to nearly 26% of India’s installed hydropower capacity, is currently executing five hydroelectric projects, including the 1000 MW Tehri Pumped Storage System in Uttarakhand. This latest contract reaffirms HCC’s expertise in hydropower infrastructure development.
