Hindustan Zinc Adds HZDA 5 To BIS Alloy Portfolio

Hindustan Zinc has expanded its BIS-certified alloy portfolio after extending its BIS licence scope to include Hindustan Zinc Die-Casting Alloy 5, or HZDA 5. The certification confirms compliance with recognised quality standards and offers customers greater assurance on product consistency, reliability and performance.

With both HZDA 3 and HZDA 5 now covered under BIS certification, the company has widened its certified zinc alloy offering for domestic and international customers. The certification is expected to support industrial buyers seeking materials backed by recognised quality controls and consistent performance standards.

HZDA 3 and HZDA 5 are designed for applications requiring strength, precision, durability and performance. Zinc die-casting alloys are widely used across automotive, engineering, infrastructure and other industrial applications, where material integrity plays an important role in end-product performance.

Hindustan Zinc said the BIS licence scope extension comes as customers increasingly prioritise certified products, reliable supply and responsible sourcing. For industrial buyers, certification helps reduce sourcing risk, improve market acceptance and provide assurance that materials meet recognised standards.

The company said the development also reflects its focus on Total Quality Management across raw material sourcing, production, testing, logistics and customer delivery. Its quality systems include Laboratory Information Management System and Agile Quality Circle, while certifications such as BIS, REACH and LBMA support alignment with national and global benchmarks.

The expanded certified portfolio strengthens Hindustan Zinc’s wider product basket, which includes refined zinc, lead, silver, zinc alloys and low-carbon zinc offerings such as EcoZen. The company is also using digital platforms such as Vedanta Metal Bazaar to improve transparency, accessibility and customer engagement across the value chain.
