Hindustan National Glass & Industries (HNGIL) has recently announced the appointment of Rakesh Mehta as Chief Operating Officer (COO), North, effective immediately. The appointment follows the company’s acquisition by Independent Sugar Corporation (INSCO), part of the Uganda-based Madhvani Group, completed in September 2025.

In his new role, Mehta will oversee HNGIL’s northern operations, with a focus on supply chain optimisation, production efficiency and market expansion, catering to customers across pharmaceuticals, liquor, beverages and food segments. The move aligns with HNGIL’s post-acquisition strategy to strengthen operational performance and drive regional growth.

Mehta brings over two decades of experience spanning finance, commercial operations and regional leadership. Prior to joining HNGIL, he served as Finance Head – North at Reliance Jio Infocomm, and earlier held senior roles at Reliance Retail, managing distribution, logistics and operations across northern India.

Commenting on the appointment, Suraj Mehta, Chief Strategy & Corporate Affairs Officer, said the addition would strengthen HNGIL’s leadership as it advances its growth plans following the acquisition.

Founded in 1946 and headquartered in Kolkata, HNGIL operates 11 furnaces and 44 production lines equipped with advanced technology from Europe and the USA. The company supplies glass packaging solutions to leading brands across food, beverage, liquor, pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors nationwide.
