HUDCO To Fund MMRDA Projects

1500 billion in funding to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for a series of infrastructure projects aimed at transforming Mumbai’s urban landscape.

This significant financial backing will support the development of metro corridors, roads, housing schemes, and essential utilities in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The funding agreement marks a major step in enabling MMRDA’s long-term vision to enhance urban mobility, improve living standards, and address the region’s growing infrastructural demands. HUDCO’s support strengthens MMRDA’s ability to execute high-impact projects swiftly and at scale. The focus will be on integrated development, with a blend of connectivity, affordability, and sustainability. Major metro expansions and urban housing initiatives are key areas where this funding will be utilised.

The Maharashtra government sees this collaboration as critical to boosting infrastructure while maintaining financial prudence. The agreement also reflects HUDCO’s expanding role in financing large-scale urban transformations in India’s biggest cities. This infusion of funds, along with other recent agreements, positions MMRDA to fast-track its developmental agenda and meet the evolving needs of a rapidly urbanising Mumbai.
