IHG Marks Pre-Opening Milestone For Powai Project
The development will comprise a dual hotel complex and a large convention centre and is expected to feature around 300 keys, 13 meeting rooms, four food and beverage outlets, and multiple indoor and outdoor event spaces. The configuration is designed to serve both business and leisure demand and to accommodate a wide range of event formats from small meetings to larger conferences. Project planners indicated that the facilities will cater to conference delegations and social events alike.
The development forms part of IHG's strategy to expand its footprint in key urban markets through integrated hospitality formats. Located in Powai, the project aims to address growing demand for MICE and large-scale events infrastructure in Mumbai. IHG noted that such integrated projects are central to its approach for capturing business from domestic and international travellers while supporting longer-term urban hospitality growth.
Company and government representatives said the project will strengthen Mumbai's position as a hub for tourism and MICE and will encourage further investment in hospitality infrastructure. Vijayta Raheja emphasised the state's progressive governance and investment friendly environment as reinforcing factors for development. The Chief Minister highlighted the contribution of such projects to the local economy and the broader aim of positioning Mumbai as a global events destination. Project teams affirmed that work will continue towards the planned 2026 opening.
