India and Denmark agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation on micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) development, innovation and intellectual property at the fourth meeting of their Joint Working Group in Copenhagen. The meeting provided a platform to exchange perspectives on respective MSME and innovation ecosystems and to explore institutional cooperation under the Joint Working Group framework. Officials reviewed outcomes of previous engagements and set priorities for future collaboration. The discussions identified technology adoption, innovation, intellectual property and technology commercialisation as key areas for cooperation.

Delegates examined entrepreneurship promotion and cluster based approaches for MSME development and discussed mechanisms to support mentoring, start up support and industry academia linkages. The Indian delegation visited Aarhus University Innovation Kitchen and the Agro Food Park to study Denmark's innovation support and business cluster ecosystems and to inform potential policy adaptation. Engagements facilitated exchanges on practical models for incubators, accelerator programmes and linkages between research institutions and industry. Participants identified opportunities to replicate successful cluster practices and to scale collaborative initiatives.

The delegation engaged with the Danish Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs to exchange views on business development, innovation policy and the SME ecosystem and to identify avenues for cooperation. Delegates also took part in the Nordic India Startup Summit 2026 hosted by TechBBQ which enabled interaction with stakeholders from the Nordic start up and innovation ecosystem and the sharing of perspectives on India’s MSME sector. Discussions emphasised knowledge exchange, technology commercialisation and promotion of intellectual property led growth. Both sides explored mechanisms for joint projects, capacity building and research collaboration.

Ambassador of India to Denmark Manish Prabhat welcomed the deepening cooperation and reaffirmed support for engagement under the Joint Working Group. The meeting was noted to demonstrate a shared commitment to promoting innovation and intellectual property led growth of MSMEs while strengthening institutional linkages and mutually beneficial cooperation. Follow up actions were planned to expand cooperation under existing frameworks and to identify concrete projects for pilot implementation. Both delegations agreed to maintain exchanges to monitor progress and to build on agreed priorities.
