India, Germany Sign Telecom Cooperation Declaration
The agreement was concluded between the Department of Telecommunications and Germany’s Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation, and was a key outcome of high-level engagements between the Prime Minister of India and the German Federal Chancellor.
The JDI establishes a framework for structured cooperation through regular consultations, annual high-level meetings and dedicated working groups involving government, industry, academia and research institutions. Areas of collaboration include policy and regulatory frameworks, manufacturing, emerging digital technologies and facilitation of ease of doing business in the telecommunications and ICT sectors.
Both sides have agreed to jointly develop a work plan aligned with mutual priorities and to work closely in international fora to promote shared perspectives on digital development. The declaration reinforces the growing India–Germany partnership and supports the shared objective of inclusive and sustainable digital transformation.
