India Inaugurates Largest Container Port at BMCT Phase II

India’s maritime sector achieved a landmark with the inauguration of the Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal (BMCT) Phase II, the country’s largest standalone container port, developed by Man Infraconstruction Ltd (MICL).
The terminal was virtually inaugurated by the Prime Ministers of India, Narendra Modi, and Singapore, Lawrence Wong, in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, MLA Parag Shah, and other dignitaries. The event marks a major milestone in India’s port infrastructure, significantly enhancing trade capacity.

Trade and Connectivity Boost
BMCT Phase II features advanced multimodal and green infrastructure, including a 2,000-metre quay and an annual handling capacity of 4.8 million TEUs. Developed under a major public-private partnership, the project aims to strengthen global connectivity and improve trade efficiency.

MICL secured the 110-hectare development contract in June 2023 through competitive bidding, highlighting its engineering and execution expertise.

MICL’s Commitment to Growth
Manan P. Shah, Managing Director of MICL Group, said: “We are proud to have completed the Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal Phase II, a flagship project that elevates India’s global maritime standing. This milestone demonstrates MICL’s commitment to engineering excellence, innovation, and sustainable infrastructure. We remain dedicated to delivering world-class projects that advance India’s growth and enhance international trade connectivity.”
