India-Led Responsible Nations Index to Launch Soon
Addressing the media, senior representatives including Jagdish Mukhi, Chairperson, World Intellectual Foundation, and Arun Kumar Mishra, Chairperson of the Advisory Board, outlined the objectives and framework of the index. Other speakers highlighted the academic and institutional collaboration behind the initiative.
The Responsible Nations Index has been positioned as India’s first globally anchored framework to evaluate countries on responsible governance, social well-being, environmental stewardship and global responsibility. Covering 154 countries, the index is built on transparent and globally sourced datasets to ensure credibility and comparability, moving beyond traditional power- or GDP-centric assessments.
It was explained that the index is structured around three core dimensions: internal responsibility focusing on dignity, justice and citizen well-being; environmental responsibility covering climate action and natural resource stewardship; and external responsibility assessing contributions to peace, cooperation and global stability.
The Responsible Nations Index is scheduled to be formally launched on 19 January 2026 at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in the presence of Ram Nath Kovind, Former President of India.
The initiative aims to encourage global dialogue on ethics, sustainability, food security and value-based leadership, contributing to a more balanced understanding of national performance on the global stage.
