India SDG Dashboard Launched by Ministry of Statistics
MoSPI regularly releases a range of social and environmental statistical publications and maintains a centralised digital mechanism for public access. The ministry has published key reports over the last five years, including environmental statistics, environmental accounts, national SDG progress reports, the NIF and demographic snapshots on women, men, youth and children, which are available on the ministry website. These publications serve as primary references for researchers, policymakers and stakeholders. The digital availability aims to improve transparency and ease of access for non specialised users as well as technical audiences.
The statistics are primarily compiled from secondary sources provided by various ministries and departments and are widely used for policy analysis and research. To enhance coverage and quality, MoSPI has constituted expert group committees on environment statistics, gender statistics and ad hoc publications, comprising representatives from central ministries, departments and research organisations. The ministry has also launched the e-Sankhyiki portal to facilitate time series data dissemination on key macroeconomic indicators. The portal supports download and visualisation of time series, facilitating longitudinal analysis by analysts and institutions.
The Advance Release Calendar (ARC) of statistical products is published on the ministry website to ensure transparent and timely dissemination of information. MoSPI conducts regular dialogues and consultations with data users and stakeholders to incorporate feedback and improve data accessibility and usability. These measures form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the national statistical system and promote informed policy dialogue. The minister of state informed the Lok Sabha of these initiatives today.
