Check Point Software Technologies has released its Manufacturing Threat Landscape 2025 report, showing a sharp rise in cyber threats facing the global manufacturing sector. India emerged as the Asia-Pacific hub of ransomware activity, with 201 reported incidents in 2025. The report said 65 per cent of affected Indian organisations paid ransoms, with average payouts reaching $1.35 million.

Globally, cyberattacks on manufacturers rose 56 per cent, increasing from 937 incidents in 2024 to 1,466 in 2025. The report attributed the rise to ransomware, supply chain compromise and operational technology vulnerabilities. It also noted that manufacturing organisations in India faced as many as 2,786 cyberattacks per week over the past six months.

The report called for stronger cyber resilience through zero trust architectures, faster patching, stronger identity controls, offline backups, employee awareness and tighter third-party risk management.
