The Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) Sagar, INS Sunayna, entered Yangon harbour on four May 2026 as part of India’s ongoing maritime engagement in the region. The port call coincided with the visit of Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), underscoring the emphasis on strengthening bilateral naval ties with Myanmar. The arrival followed a ceremonial welcome by the Myanmar Navy and set the tone for the scheduled exchanges and engagements.

Officials said the Myanmar Navy will host the crew of IOS Sagar for official interactions aimed at fostering professional and cultural exchanges between personnel of both navies. Planned activities include visits to Myanmar Navy training establishments to enable the sharing of professional practices and mutual familiarisation of operating procedures.
