IndusInd Bank Goes Live on Next-Gen UPI Platform

IndusInd Bank has gone live on a next-generation UPI processing platform, marking a significant advance in India's real-time payments ecosystem. The platform, branded UPI six point zero and developed by Mindgate Solutions, runs on a hyper-scalable, cloud-ready and resilient architecture and the bank is the first private bank to operate both issuer and acquirer services on this environment. The move is presented as a strategic upgrade to support uninterrupted, high-performance payment experiences for customers and merchants nationwide.

The upgrade is said to reduce recovery time by 30 per cent and to provide up to 75 per cent higher scalability headroom compared with the previous infrastructure. It is designed to deliver sub-second response times and near-zero technical declines, while enabling seamless disaster recovery within minutes. These capabilities are intended to ensure transaction reliability and operational continuity even during peak volumes.

The announcement is positioned within the bank's Digital two point zero strategy, which aims to create a seamless, secure and intuitive banking ecosystem. The bank reported serving 42 million (mn) customers through 3,120 branches and 3,063 ATMs as of 31 December 2025 and reaching 0.162 mn villages across India. The upgraded processing platform is expected to support real-time needs across retail, merchant and enterprise segments.

The bank has portrayed the launch as reinforcing its commitment to digital innovation after more than 31 years of operations and highlighted a wide product mix that includes microfinance, retail and SME lending, cards, vehicle finance and ESG-linked products. The institution continues to hold clearing and settlement roles for major exchanges and to maintain a presence with representative offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The bank's stated aim is to deliver faster, resilient and trusted payment services to support customers and market participants.
