Jadcherla To Get GIS-Based Master Plan Under AMRUT 2.0
Strategically located at the intersection of National Highways 44 and 167, Jadcherla is emerging as a key industrial, educational, and technology hub in southern Telangana. Its rapid growth is being driven by major developments such as the Polepally Pharma SEZ, home to several pharmaceutical and bulk drug manufacturing units that have significantly boosted local employment and industrial output.
The establishment of IIIT Jadcherla, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, and Integrated Residential Schools at Chittiboienpally has further cemented the town’s reputation as an educational centre. Meanwhile, the Divitipally IT Park and the Amara Raja Lithium-ion Battery Manufacturing Unit are strengthening its position as a technology and green energy hub.
Given this accelerated development, officials highlighted the need for a planned, environmentally responsible, and sustainable urban framework to support future population and infrastructure requirements.
A consultative workshop on the preparation of the GIS-based master plan was held on Friday at the Integrated District Offices Complex, chaired by District Collector Viziyendira Boyi. The session was attended by DTCP Joint Director and AMRUT 2.0 Nodal Officer Ashwini, municipal councillors, and officials from various departments.
During the workshop, officials outlined the methodology for developing the plan through drone surveys and GIS mapping to assess land use, civic infrastructure, and growth potential. The Collector stated that the master plan would serve as a 20-year roadmap for Jadcherla’s integrated development—covering housing, transport, water supply, and environmental management.
She instructed departments to submit all relevant data by 7 November, emphasising the importance of inter-departmental coordination. “The GIS-based master plan will ensure that Jadcherla grows systematically, balancing urban expansion with sustainability and citizens’ welfare,” she said.
Officials confirmed that drone and socio-economic surveys within municipal limits have been completed and that work on the draft master plan is already underway. The Collector also underscored the inclusion of green zones, public parks, and efficient transport networks to enhance liveability and reduce pollution.
Once finalised, the GIS-based master plan is expected to position Jadcherla as a model for data-driven urban planning in Telangana, combining industrial growth with sustainability and smart infrastructure.
