Jammu Tawi Railway Station is now fully operational with all seven platforms after the commissioning of newly constructed platforms six and seven under the station redevelopment project, boosting the station's capacity to handle train operations and passenger traffic more efficiently, an official said on Wednesday. The northern railways Jammu Division had earlier made platforms four and five fully operational, bringing the total active platforms at the station to seven. The rail administration indicated that the additional platforms increase the capacity for simultaneous halting and operation of more trains, which will make train movement smoother and reduce halting time.

The authority reported that the opening of the new platforms will provide better facilities to passengers travelling to and from Jammu and Kashmir and will strengthen regional connectivity. Passengers were urged to check train schedules and platform information from station announcements and display boards to plan their journeys. The administration also appealed to travellers to use the foot over bridges and signage built to access the new platforms and to follow the instructions of railway staff.

Station officials noted that the commissioning supports efforts to decongest platforms and to provide relief from overcrowding during peak hours. The redevelopment project was described as aimed at enhancing passenger convenience by improving circulation areas and access routes within the station precinct. The administration said operational teams will coordinate platform assignments and movement to ensure efficient handling of services.
