In a significant move to strengthen sustainable transport infrastructure in Jammu, a deputation from the All J&K Transport Welfare Association (AJKTWA), led by Chairman Karan Singh Wazir, met Devansh Yadav, Chief Executive Officer of Jammu Smart City Ltd., to discuss delays in implementing finalised electric bus (e-bus) routes.
The deputation informed the CEO that a comprehensive list of intra-city and intercity e-bus routes had been approved by a high-level committee chaired by the CEO of Smart City, in the presence of the Transport Commissioner and Regional Transport Officer (RTO). Despite this approval, execution on the ground had not progressed as expected.
AJKTWA members highlighted that the delay was creating operational uncertainty and scheduling difficulties for transporters and drivers, while also slowing efforts to enhance public mobility in the city.
Listening to the concerns, CEO Devansh Yadav assured the Association that 90 per cent of the finalised routes had already been documented and formally recorded.
To ensure transparency and accountability, he instructed the In-Charge of e-bus operations under the Smart City project to prepare a detailed status report within three days outlining the current stage of implementation. He further assured that a follow-up meeting would be convened promptly after submission of the report to take concrete steps towards full execution of the approved routes.
The deputation, in addition to the Chairman, included chief patron Parvinder Singh, president Vijay Singh Chib, Bharat Sharma, Gourav Kapoor, Gurdeep Singh, and Labh Singh.
All members unanimously pressed for timely implementation of the routes, emphasising that modernisation of transport in Jammu could not be delayed any further.
