Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary represented India at the swearing-in ceremony of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in Uganda, marking the president's seventh term in office. He reiterated India’s commitment to strengthen longstanding ties with Uganda and to broaden cooperation across the African continent. The minister outlined areas for enhanced collaboration in education, skills development and capacity building. The visit was presented as part of a broader diplomatic effort to deepen bilateral relations and support mutual development goals. Chaudhary visited the National Forensic Sciences University Uganda Campus (NFSU-I) in Jinja, described as India’s first overseas public academic campus, which enrolled its inaugural batch of students in October 2025. He commended the initiative and expressed confidence that the campus would emerge as a centre of excellence for multidisciplinary forensic sciences, research and development, and capacity building. The visit to the campus underscored an education diplomacy strand in bilateral engagement. Officials noted plans to support curriculum development and faculty exchange.

In Kampala, the minister interacted with members of the Indian diaspora, an engagement portrayed as reflecting deep people-to-people ties between the two countries. The meetings highlighted community priorities and avenues to enhance vocational training and skill linkages. The visit reaffirmed India’s continued commitment to deepening cooperation with Uganda across economic and educational sectors. Follow-up actions were described as aimed at translating diplomatic intent into concrete programmes and capacity enhancement.
