Jindal India Completes Bengal Expansion
The expansion is expected to reduce lead times and improve service levels for local buyers while enabling JIL to allocate production more efficiently between sites. Operational upgrades focused on automation and process control to raise consistency and reduce waste, thereby improving unit economics. JIL management has highlighted supply chain optimisation as a central objective of the initiative. JIL prioritised investments to achieve measurable productivity improvements without altering the product range.
JIL said the expansion has created additional employment opportunities and included training programmes to upskill the local workforce. JIL adjusted procurement policies to increase sourcing from regional vendors and to support small and medium enterprises in the supply base. JIL integrated environmental safeguards and compliance measures into the project to limit emissions and manage resource use responsibly. JIL engaged local stakeholders throughout, and social initiatives accompanied the construction phase.
The completion aligns with the group's wider strategy to enhance capacity and improve margins through targeted capital expenditure. JIL's ongoing efforts will focus on maintenance, further efficiency gains and strengthening customer relations to secure longer-term contracts. JIL signalled that the upgraded facility will play a key role in supporting its regional distribution network and in underpinning future growth plans. JIL will continue to monitor performance and report progress through routine disclosures.
