Kashi-style corridors coming soon to major UP cities

At least one key route in all major cities of Uttar Pradesh is set to receive a makeover, similar to the thematic corridors recently developed in Varanasi and Ayodhya. This task will be undertaken by the housing development authorities in accordance with the new guidelines established under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973, which were finalised last month.

Senior officials from the housing department announced that the work would commence on June 15. They explained that each year, the authorities would designate a street for a complete makeover, requiring the fa?ade of the buildings along the chosen corridor to be redone. The buildings' fa?ades would be improved according to the thematic design, ensuring a consistent look and feel in terms of style and colour palette.

In Varanasi, corridors such as Godowlia?Dashashwamedh Ghat and the Babatpur airport road to Namo Ghat, along with several other stretches, have been developed following a standard design theme over the past three years. Similarly, in Ayodhya, corridors like Ram Path, Bhakti Path, and Dharam Path have been created. Although the Lucknow Development Authority had previously implemented a standard theme in Hazratganj and Qaiserbagh, it will now need to identify new zones.

Additionally, Nitin R Gokarn, the Additional Chief Secretary of the housing department, stated that Vice Chancellors had been instructed to form a quick response team to address complaints related to unauthorized construction. The authorities' portals would also need to display a dedicated helpline number for such complaints.
