Kerala’s ULCCS Plans Expansion into Airports and Ports Sector

Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS), a Kerala-based labour cooperative, is planning to expand beyond the state by foraying into infrastructure sectors such as railways, airports, seaports, and tunnels.

Widely recognised for its work in highways and government infrastructure projects, ULCCS is now actively pursuing prequalification for large-scale projects in airport, port, and tunnel construction. The cooperative is also engaging with potential partners to enhance execution efficiency through strategic collaboration.

In addition to expanding its project portfolio, ULCCS intends to enter new product segments, including prefabricated building components, mechanised construction solutions, and scaffolding systems, as part of a broader national growth strategy.

The cooperative has also introduced U-Sphere, a platform aimed at promoting sustainable and technology-driven construction methods. ULCCS is increasingly integrating AI and automation into its construction processes.

Established in 1925, ULCCS is fully owned and managed by workers. It funds its operations through internal revenues and institutional support, including loans from bodies such as NABARD.
