Khadi and Village Industries Commission Sets New Record

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has achieved a historic milestone, surpassing a turnover of ?1.7 lakh crore for the first time in independent India’s history. This remarkable feat was achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, as KVIC released provisional data for the financial year 2024-25, highlighting impressive growth across key sectors.

Chairman of KVIC, Shri Manoj Kumar, unveiled the figures which revealed a fourfold increase in production and a fivefold increase in sales over the past 11 years. In particular, the total employment generated by KVIC saw an extraordinary 49.23% growth, with the commission now providing jobs to 1.94 crore individuals.

“The growth of Khadi and Village Industries has become a symbol of India’s journey towards self-reliance, under the vision of Prime Minister Modi,” said Shri Kumar. “This achievement is not just in terms of numbers, but it also reflects the growing role of Khadi in shaping ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,’ a united and prosperous India.”

KVIC has also made significant strides in employment generation, particularly in rural India. The number of people employed in Khadi and Village Industries has grown from 1.30 crore in 2013-14 to 1.94 crore in 2024-25, marking a 49.23% increase. The commission’s efforts have helped empower rural artisans and contribute to the nation’s economic development.

KVIC’s record-breaking performance also includes impressive growth in the business of the Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan in New Delhi, which reached ?110.01 crore in 2024-25, a 115% increase from ?51.02 crore in 2013-14.

The Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) has played a crucial role in these achievements, with over 10 lakh units established and over ?27,166 crore in margin money subsidies provided. Moreover, KVIC has expanded the Gramodyog Vikas Yojana Scheme, distributing thousands of machines and equipment to support rural industries and enhance employment opportunities
