Laser Power & Infra Wins HPSEB LoI for HTLS Reconductoring
Reconduction with advanced HTLS conductors will enable the utility to carry substantially higher current on existing lines, offering a faster and more cost-effective means to increase capacity. The approach reduces implementation time and environmental impact compared with constructing new lines or installing larger towers. By enabling higher thermal rating and lower sag, the technology is presented as a sustainable option to meet growing demand.
The order is valued at Rs 41.5 million (Rs 41.5 mn) and marks Laser Power & Infra's first commercial deployment of the advanced conductor technology under its manufacturing agreement with TS Conductor Corp, USA, executed in March 2025. The project will use Aluminium Encapsulated Carbon Core Conductors (AECC) manufactured by Laser in India using TS Conductor's proprietary pre-tensioned carbon fibre composite core technology. The AECC design aims to combine low weight with high tensile strength to improve line performance and reduce maintenance.
Execution of the contract is expected to demonstrate the practical benefits of reconductoring for state utilities and may support wider adoption in similar transmission corridors. The Nalagarh initiative is framed as a targeted measure to improve reliability and capacity without major civil works. The company will proceed with supply and installation under the terms specified by the purchasing authority.
