Lubrizol, in partnership with Ashirvad Pipes, has completed the installation of water, sanitation and hygiene infrastructure across four government schools in Pune district, Maharashtra. Implemented with support from Jal Seva Charitable Foundation, the initiative is set to provide 13,000 litres of safe and clean water daily, benefiting more than 565 students and 26 staff members.
The four schools serve children from tribal and historically underserved communities in rural areas on the outskirts of Pune, where access to safe water and sanitation had remained limited. The programme addresses these gaps through a complete water and sanitation infrastructure setup across all four schools.
As part of the initiative, Ashirvad Pipes supplied FlowGuard Plus CPVC plumbing pipes and fittings to support a durable, safe and corrosion-resistant water distribution system designed for long-term use. The project has enabled the schools to access over 6,000 litres of safe drinking water each day, helping create a healthier and more supportive learning environment for students and teachers.
The programme also includes awareness and capacity-building sessions for students, teachers and the wider school community on hygiene, sanitation and responsible water use, supporting sustained behavioural change and long-term impact.
Binay Agrawal, Business Director, TempRite CPVC, Lubrizol IMEA, said that strengthening WASH infrastructure in rural schools can help create healthier spaces where children can focus on learning while developing lifelong hygiene habits. He added that Lubrizol’s partnership with Ashirvad by Aliaxis continues to support meaningful improvements in safe water access.
Nilanjana Pahari, Corporate Partnerships Manager, Jal Seva Charitable Foundation, said the collaboration with Lubrizol, Ashirvad by Aliaxis, local panchayats and school administration has improved access to safe drinking water, gender-sensitive sanitation facilities and hygiene practices for children in tribal communities. She added that the project reflects a shared commitment to healthier learning environments and stronger community resilience.
The initiative highlights the wider commitment of Lubrizol and Ashirvad to addressing practical challenges in underserved communities through reliable water infrastructure and long-term social impact.
