Madhya Pradesh Plans 4,000 MW Thermal Power Projects
The projects will be located in Anuppur district and were awarded through a competitive design, build, finance, own and operate bidding process conducted by MP Power Management Company. Under the plan, 3,200 MW has been allocated through the main tender, while an additional 800 MW will be developed under a greenshoe option.
The selected developers include Torrent Power with 1,600 MW, Adani Power with 800 MW and Hindustan Thermal Projects with 800 MW. The projects are expected to generate around 3,000 direct jobs and approximately 5,000 indirect employment opportunities in the state.
Special purpose vehicles formed by the developers will sign power supply agreements with the state government. The new thermal power plants are expected to begin supplying electricity by 2030, strengthening Madhya Pradesh’s energy capacity and supporting industrial and economic growth in the region.
The initiative reflects the state’s focus on expanding power generation infrastructure to meet rising demand and reinforce long-term energy security.
