Maharashtra Approves Rs 260 Billion Infra, Legal, Labour Reforms
A Rs 1.42 Bn memorial and a Rs 6.71 Mn women’s skill centre will be set up in Satara to honour social reformer Savitribai Phule. The Cabinet also sanctioned revised administrative approval for the Gosikhurd National Project in Bhandara, now valued at Rs 259.73 Bn.
A major overhaul of the state’s labour laws was approved with the drafting of a new Maharashtra Labour Code to modernise outdated regulations in line with industry needs.
The tenure of 16 additional and 23 fast-track courts, originally introduced under the 14th Finance Commission, was extended by two years. Contractual legal officers in the Revenue Department will now receive a raised monthly honorarium of Rs 50,000.
The fisheries sector will now receive policy treatment similar to agriculture, supporting rural livelihoods through improved infrastructure and incentives.
Key infrastructure approvals include a four-lane elevated and ground road from Talegaon to Chakan and a six-lane ground road from Chakan to Shikrapur in Pune.
