Maharashtra Plans EV Charging Stations Across State

The Maharashtra government is planning to establish electric vehicle charging stations at Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) depots and Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across the state.

Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced the plan while flagging off Tata Motors' electric trucks at the Tardeo RTO in Mumbai.

The government is also considering setting up EV charging stations at flyovers under a public-private partnership model. A proposal for the initiative has been submitted to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for approval.

Sarnaik urged people to increase the adoption of electric vehicles as part of efforts to reduce pollution in the state.

MSRTC is also targeting the conversion of its entire bus fleet to electric buses by 2036, supporting Maharashtra's broader transition towards cleaner public transport.
