The Maharashtra government has approved the reclassification of a 13.8 km stretch of two national highways in Nashik district as sections of State Highway 27 (SH 27) following completion of four-laning and bypass works in the Sinnar area. A Government Resolution issued by the Public Works Department (PWD) effected the change after the department reviewed the completed works. The measure is intended to rationalise the road network and transfer responsibility for the short stretches from central to state maintenance.

Under the resolution an eight point five km portion of National Highway 60 (NH-60), formerly NH-50, from the Sinnar bypass to Rurewadi Phata has been declassified and redesignated as SH 27 (A). The change will place this section under the supervision of the PWD and may simplify local administration of traffic and maintenance. The notification specifies the precise termini and classification details to ensure administrative clarity.

In addition a five point three km stretch of National Highway 160 (NH-160), which had previously formed part of Major State Highway 12 from Sangamner Naka to Musalgaon MIDC, has been reclassified as SH 27 (B). The reclassification recognises the altered role of the corridor after the completion of widening and bypass construction. Officials indicated that the redesignation follows established practice when central routes are superseded by upgraded alignments.

The decision follows completion of widening and bypass construction on the Nashik–Pune route and on the Ghoti–Sinnar–Shirdi corridor, which has reduced the strategic significance of the declassified segments. The PWD cited the completed works and administrative efficiency as reasons for the change in status. Local authorities will now manage the former national stretches as parts of SH 27 to align maintenance and planning responsibilities.
