Maharashtra Unveils Ambitious EV Policy 2025

Maharashtra has introduced a comprehensive Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2025, effective from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2030, aiming for 30 per cent EV adoption across all vehicle categories by 2030. The policy offers substantial incentives, including up to Rs 200,000 for electric four-wheelers used in transport, Rs 2 million for electric buses, and Rs 150,000 for electric tractors and harvesters. Additional benefits encompass toll exemptions on major expressways like the Mumbai–Pune Expressway for five years, and 100 per cent waivers on road tax and registration fees. To bolster infrastructure, the policy mandates EV charging stations every 25 km on highways, requires new residential and commercial buildings to include charging facilities, and provides viability gap funding for public chargers. These measures aim to reduce emissions and promote sustainable transportation in the state.
