Mahindra, Sumitomo Tie Up with Osaka Govt to Aid Japanese Investment in India

Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai (MIPCL) and Sumitomo Corporation have signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Osaka Prefecture and the Osaka Industrial Development Bureau to support Osaka-based companies entering India. The partnership is aimed at streamlining the entry of Japanese manufacturers and reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s position as a preferred industrial destination.
As part of the collaboration, MIPCL and Sumitomo will facilitate business visits, consultations, and seminars in Osaka. In return, Osaka authorities will identify and recommend companies seeking to expand into India.
The Origins by Mahindra industrial cluster in Chennai currently houses six Japanese clients and offers world-class infrastructure and a stable policy framework. Backed by Mahindra Lifespaces, MIPCL will help Japanese firms with regulatory navigation, land access, and operations.
Amit Kumar Sinha, MD & CEO, Mahindra Lifespace Developers, said the partnership aligns with India’s manufacturing ambitions and showcases effective PPP models. Vikram Goel, CBO (Industrial), added that this marks a key milestone in attracting global investments via integrated ecosystems.
