Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited has inaugurated the first public electric vehicle fast-charging facility in Mandya district, Karnataka, at its circle office in Mandya, strengthening local EV infrastructure and supporting green mobility.

The facility was inaugurated on 22 January by CESC Chairperson and MLA Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Kumar and CESC Managing Director Munigopal Raju.

Speaking at the event, Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda said the adoption of electric vehicles has been increasing in recent years and highlighted their role in reducing air pollution and dependence on imported fuel. He said CESC is encouraging EV adoption and promoting green energy through the development of charging infrastructure.

The fast-charging centre has been established at the CESC Mandya Circle Office to promote electric vehicle usage and encourage the development of private EV charging centres. The facility can charge up to three four-wheelers simultaneously and is currently equipped with a 30 kW DC charger and a 7.4 kW AC charger. It can be upgraded in the future to a 240 kW super fast-charging facility.

Users can access the charging service through the ‘Instacharge’ app. The charging equipment has been supplied and installed by Epic Power, according to CESC.

The Mandya facility follows the recent inauguration of a similar EV fast-charging hub at the CESC head office in Mysuru. Munigopal Raju said additional fast-charging centres will be established across other locations in the coming days to further encourage electric vehicle adoption and expand public charging infrastructure.

Senior officials, including CESC Technical Director D.J. Divakar and Chief Engineer Mrutyunjaya, along with other corporation officers and staff, attended the inauguration.
