MCG Floats Rs Five Point Five Mn Tender To Improve Road Safety

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has floated a tender worth Rs five point five million (mn) to improve road safety across the city.

The tender notice, issued on Monday, invites contractors to submit bids for upgrades aimed at reducing accidents and improving pedestrian safety.

The scope covers corrective and preventive measures on high-risk stretches, including upgraded road markings, installation of advisory and regulatory signs, construction of traffic islands and measures to calm vehicle speeds.

The works are intended to strengthen pedestrian crossings and improve visibility at junctions and approaches to schools and commercial zones.

Contractors will be required to comply with technical standards and safety protocols specified in the tender documents.

The tender document sets out eligibility criteria, timelines and evaluation norms and indicates that the procurement will follow standard municipal procedures.

The civic body said bids would be opened after the submission deadline and that award decisions would consider experience and technical capability.

Financial provisions for the work were allocated within the municipal budget for the current year.

Officials expect the programme to reduce road trauma and support safer commuting for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists across Gurugram.

The MCG will monitor implementation and carry out inspections to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.

Priority for interventions will be given to stretches with higher incidence of accidents and to locations serving vulnerable road users such as school zones and market areas.

The contract will include performance parameters, maintenance obligations and penalty clauses to ensure sustained benefits after completion of works.

Prospective bidders are advised to consult the tender documents for technical specifications, submission procedures and compliance requirements before preparing proposals.
