MHI Achieves 77 Per Cent Target Under Swachhata Campaign 5.0

Inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision to institutionalise Swachhata and reduce government pendency, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), along with its Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and Autonomous Bodies (ABs), is actively participating in the fifth edition of the Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM) 5.0, held from 2 to 31 October 2025.

The Secretary, MHI, along with senior ministry officials, inspected the implementation of cleanliness drives identified during the preparatory phase. A dedicated monitoring team uploads daily progress reports on the SCDPM portal managed by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances.

A mid-term review of the campaign as of 20 October 2025 revealed strong progress across key performance areas:

755 sites cleaned out of 1,336 identified — 57 per cent achievement.

2.88 million sq ft of space freed against a 3.73 million sq ft target — 77 per cent achievement.

100 per cent disposal of 28 public grievances and 10 grievance appeals.

16,667 physical files reviewed (41 per cent of 40,400 targeted).

11,426 physical files weeded out, surpassing the 7,404 target (154 per cent achievement).

1.05 million e-files reviewed (99 per cent of target).

945,422 e-files weeded out (99 per cent of target).

To expand awareness and transparency, over 350 social media posts were made by CPSEs and ABs on X (formerly Twitter), and three PIB statements were released highlighting progress under Special Campaign 5.0.

For the first time, the ministry introduced an inter-organisational inspection mechanism to cross-verify campaign activities across CPSEs and ABs. This initiative has ensured timely completion of targets and enhanced quality control in cleanliness and disposal drives.

The MHI reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean, efficient, and transparent administrative ecosystem, contributing to the larger Swachhata mission envisioned by the government.
