MIC Electronics Limited has secured a variation order worth about Rs 10.5 million from the Nagpur Division of Central Railway, expanding the scope of its ongoing passenger information and telecom infrastructure project under the Amrit Bharat Scheme. With this addition, the total contract value has been revised to around Rs 94.2 million from the original Rs 83.7 million.

The variation order forms part of an existing contract awarded to MIC Electronics for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of telecom assets and passenger amenities across seven stations in the Nagpur Division. The project covers integrated Passenger Information Display Systems, public address systems, networking infrastructure and digital display integration, aimed at modernising station-level passenger communication.

The additional scope reflects evolving project requirements and includes expanded passenger information assets and enhanced digital upgrades at stations. The new work involves installing additional display boards, augmenting public address systems, and extending optical fibre, power and data cabling to improve connectivity and coverage.

Under the expanded scope, MIC Electronics will deploy managed Layer-2 PoE switches, increased optical fibre and shielded data cabling, additional PA amplifiers and speakers, line interface units, racks, jointing kits and related networking hardware. These upgrades are expected to enhance display coverage, PA reach, redundancy and overall system reliability, enabling clearer real-time communication across platforms and concourse areas.

The deployment will continue to comply with RDSO and Indian Railways specifications for networking equipment, PA systems, UPS infrastructure, cabling standards and associated civil works. Key enhancements include gigabit-capable managed switches, high-capacity UPS systems with N+1 architecture, and strengthened fibre and data networks to support mission-critical passenger information systems.

The variation order underscores Central Railway’s confidence in MIC Electronics’ execution capabilities and reinforces the company’s role in upgrading passenger information systems under national railway infrastructure programmes. It also improves project economics while deepening MIC’s engagement with one of Indian Railways’ major zones.

With the revised contract value of about Rs 94.2 million, revenues from the project are expected to be recognised across FY25 and FY26 in line with milestones. MIC Electronics said it anticipates growing demand for fully digital, IP-based passenger information systems driven by initiatives such as Amrit Bharat Stations, Smart Stations and Gati Shakti, creating further opportunities as railway stations nationwide upgrade passenger-facing digital infrastructure.
