The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has unveiled an upgraded version of the National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) web portal, designated NYPS 2.0. The new portal expands participation beyond recognised educational institutions to permit institution participation, group participation and individual participation across the country. The redesign aims to facilitate greater youth engagement in parliamentary processes.

It enables participation of citizens regardless of gender, caste, creed, religion, race, region or place of residence, including those in rural areas and from small institutions and groups in the state of Chhattisgarh. To widen the scheme's outreach, the Ministry has written to all state governments, union territory administrations and state and union territory legislatures, and has reached out to central educational boards such as the Central Board of Secondary Education and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations. A publicity video is broadcast periodically on Sansad TV to encourage registrations.

Between 11 September 2024 and 27 January 2026 the portal recorded 4,432 institution registrations, 1,536 events organised in the form of Youth Parliament Sittings and 52,283 participating students under institution participation. Group participation accounted for 586 registrations, 19 events and 660 participating citizens and students. Individual participation recorded 42,376 participants, bringing the total number of participating citizens and students to 95,319.

The information was provided to the Lok Sabha in a written reply by the Minister of State with independent charge of Law and Justice and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal. The Ministry indicated that the portal is designed to broaden civic awareness of parliamentary procedures and to foster participation from diverse communities. Further measures are expected to include targeted outreach and continued promotional activity to sustain engagement.
