Residents of Kolkata are experiencing a slight increase in fuel prices, with petrol now priced at Rs 105.41 per litre and diesel at Rs 92.02 per litre, effective from 12 May. The price hike amounts to forty paise for petrol and twenty paise for diesel, reflecting periodic evaluations by OMCs based on operational and logistical factors. While such changes are typically minor, they directly influence retail prices paid by consumers.

In contrast, Patna witnessed a sixty paise per litre decrease in diesel prices, while fuel rates in other eastern states remained stable. The timing of this adjustment coincides with ongoing concerns about consumer inflation and the financial strain on daily commuters.
