MMRDA Confirms Airoli Katai Corridor Phase II Complete
The completed section included carriageways, drainage works and ancillary civil structures, while the remaining phase is in an advanced stage of construction. The authority indicated that finishing works comprise surface paving, street lighting, safety barriers and pedestrian provisions. Contractors are undertaking these tasks under the supervision of the authority. The scope also included pedestrian footpaths, utility realignment and stormwater provisions to ensure long term resilience.
According to the authority, the corridor will ease traffic congestion and improve commute options for residents and commuters using these suburbs. The authority indicated that the scheme is designed to integrate with existing arterial roads and to facilitate smoother movement of vehicles. Traffic management measures and road signage will be implemented before the corridor is opened for full use. Officials added that the corridor will support commercial traffic flows and provide clearer routes for emergency services.
The authority did not provide a firm opening date for the remaining section but confirmed that final inspections and safety audits are under way. Local agencies will coordinate to finalise landscaping and drainage testing prior to handover. The authority said it will issue further updates when the work reaches completion and the corridor is ready for public use. Coordination with municipal bodies will continue to ensure that signage and safety features meet regulatory standards.
