MOIL Exports 54,600 Tonnes of Manganese Ore to Indonesia

MOIL Limited marked a significant milestone in India’s manganese ore exports with the dispatch of its first shipment of 54,600 tonnes of manganese ore fines from Visakhapatnam to Indonesia as a State Trading Enterprise (STE).
The Government of India has designated MOIL as the STE for exporting manganese ore below 46 per cent Mn grade. In FY24-25, MOIL established a mechanism for Mn ore exports in line with the Trade Policy, ensuring that all exports of manganese ore from India are routed through the company. The inaugural consignment of 54,600 tonnes was shipped on 22nd August 2025 from Visakhapatnam to Indonesia. MOIL exports the material to international buyers through a back-to-back arrangement with domestic suppliers.
The export of low-grade manganese ore (Mn 25 per cent) is particularly significant as India has a surplus of low-grade fines exceeding domestic demand. Exporting this ore not only strengthens India’s presence in the global manganese market but also contributes to foreign exchange earnings.
Shri Ajit Kumar Saxena, CMD of MOIL, congratulated the team on its first export consignment as an STE and highlighted the importance of efficient operations and well-informed strategies to support international trade.
